Turgut Erkeskin, Senior Vice-President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA)
I am pleased to have participated in the first Caspian Transport and Logistics Forum in Baku.
All the speakers at the Forum were high-level experts: they discussed important and interesting topics on increasing the efficiency of cargo delivery and the potential of international transport corridors passing through Baku.
Azerbaijan's role in the region is important and there is a need to increase cargo transportation across the Caspian Sea, especially along the Central Corridor (TITR). I am sure that this route has a bright future. The government of Azerbaijan is actively developing the transport and logistics sector, expanding the capacity of ports, railways, and service structures.
Logistics and the supply chain are currently undergoing global changes for geopolitical reasons.
New environmental requirements for decarbonization and innovations in digitalization also need to be taken into account.
Our organization is very interested in the development of this region.
I am sure that such forums will continue and become permanent, given the relevance of issues related to the development of trade and freight transport between the West and the East.
